Pavel Nedvěd, the legendary Czech player of Juventus, revealed some intriguing details about the end of his career with the Italian club, confirming that Portuguese manager José Mourinho reached out to him personally in an attempt to persuade him to move to Inter.
Nedved said: "When José Mourinho learned that I would not sign a new contract with Juventus, he reached out to me and said that if I moved to Inter, we would win the UEFA Champions League. I trusted him and was happy with the offer."
The Czech legend added that he had a significant financial and sporting opportunity, but he made a different decision because of his strong connection with Juventus fans, explaining: "There was a reason for my refusal of this contract, which would have brought me a lot of money and kept me at the top for at least another year. I loved Juventus fans very much."
Nedved continued: "It was not right for me to leave them and move to their bitter rivals, who started to achieve success thanks to our decline. Rejecting Inter was the right decision; they won the UEFA Champions League, while I maintained my reputation."
Pavel Nedvěd's comments refer to the 2009-2010 season, when Inter, led by Mourinho, won the UEFA Champions League, while Nedvěd had retired from football after the end of the 2008-2009 season with Juventus.
