Georgie Jesus, the head coach of Portugal, has revealed the reason for Cristiano Ronaldo's absence during the 2-1 victory over Norway in the second round of the UEFA Nations League.
Jesus responded to a question about why Cristiano Ronaldo did not enter the pitch: "I felt that the way the match was going perhaps required something different, and in the end, it wasn't the right time to involve him."
The Portugal coach added: "There are other matches in which he can help us a lot. He is a player with immense experience."
Jesus concluded his remarks regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's failure to greet the fans yesterday, stating: "I will talk to him about that, the national team remains a national team, and I cannot explain why he did not do that."
The Portugal national team will face Denmark on Thursday, October 1, in the third round, followed by a match against Norway on October 4 in the fourth round.
