Former international referee Mohamed Adel expressed his wish for an Egyptian officiating crew to manage the upcoming derby match between Al Ahly FC and Zamalek SC in the Egyptian League.
Al Ahly FC will face Zamalek SC next Sunday, October 11, at Cairo International Stadium in the sixth round of the Egyptian League.
The Egyptian Football Association's referees committee, chaired by Essam Abdel Fattah, has announced the selection of international Slovenian referee Oberinovic to officiate the summit match.
Mohamed Adel, in statements to the "Al Primmo" program with journalist Mohamed Farouk, via the "Ten" channel, said: "I would have preferred to assign an Egyptian refereeing team for the upcoming summit match between Zamalek SC and Al Ahly FC, especially since there are many distinguished referees in the Egyptian League, and better than Oberinović, such as Mahmoud Nagy, Mohamed Maarouf, and Amin Omar, all of whom are better than the Slovenian referee chosen for the match."
He added: "Many Egyptian referees have previously officiated matches between Al Ahly FC and Zamalek SC, and I was one of them. I am satisfied with my management of the match, and it was one of the easiest matches I have officiated."
