Real Madrid are awaiting the results of medical tests that Kylian Mbappé will undergo after his injury with France against Türkiye in the UEFA Nations League qualifiers, to determine the length of his absence and whether the club will receive compensation from FIFA.
According to "Mundo Deportivo", FIFA's player protection program stipulates that compensation to the club will begin after 28 consecutive days of the player's injury with their national team, meaning that October 23 will be a decisive date for Mbappé.
The French Football Federation has announced that Mbappé is suffering from a tendon injury and will return to Madrid for further examinations. Zinedine Zidane confirmed that the player suffered from hyperextension of the knee while shooting and that there will be no risk taken with his continued participation.
The program stipulates daily compensation for clubs of up to €20,548, with a maximum of €7.5 million per player and incident, for a duration of up to 365 days, while the total maximum for the club protection program is €80 million annually.
Therefore, FIFA will not start compensating Real Madrid until Kylian Mbappé's absence continues until October 23, while the upcoming tests will be crucial in determining the duration of the injury.
The Spanish newspaper pointed out that Ibrahima Konaté's situation exemplifies a lack of entitlement to compensation, as the defender returned to Madrid after his injury with France, with expectations of his return before surpassing the 28-day period.
