Moroccan international Moncef Zekri has returned to training with the first team of Sporting CP after overcoming physical issues that kept him from participating in group sessions recently.
Sporting CP has announced that Moncef Zekri, 18, has completed his first training session with the first team after undergoing a special physical recovery program since joining the club in August.
The Moroccan defender has joined Sporting CP from Belgian club Mechelen, where he progressed through the youth ranks, to begin a new chapter in his career in Portuguese football.
Moncef Zekri has joined the first team training for the first time under coach Rúben Amorim, during the session that followed Sporting CP's resumption of training activities after three days of rest.
Nine players from the reserve teams participated in training, while 17 players were absent due to their commitments with their national teams.
Sporting CP are preparing to return to action after the international break, when they visit Sporting Braga on October 9, in the eighth round of the Primeira Liga.
On the international stage, Moncef Zekri has an impressive record with Morocco's youth teams, having contributed in 2025 to the Moroccan U17 team's victory in the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, as well as participating in the team's reaching the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup for that age group.
