Dutch legend Rafael van der Vaart, a former star for the Netherlands, Real Madrid, and Tottenham, has proposed a transfer for his compatriot Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona to Bayern Munich, believing that the Dutch midfielder could provide a significant boost to the Bavarian team.
Rafael van der Vaart stated during his appearance on the "Phrasenmäher" podcast affiliated with the "Bild" newspaper: "I say with all due respect that Joshua Kimmich's time may have come to an end at some point, and Frenkie can make Bayern better, even alongside Kimmich."
Frenkie de Jong is 29 years old and is contracted to Barcelona until the summer of 2029, having joined the Catalan club from Ajax in 2019. He has also previously played for Willem II.
Frenkie de Jong is currently recovering from a knee injury sustained during the World Cup, while Barcelona have bolstered their options in his position by signing Rodri from Manchester City. However, the Dutch player has previously been linked with moves to several clubs in the Premier League, while de Jong has confirmed on multiple occasions that he feels happy at Barcelona.
